Senior Appointment at ING Turkey

ING Turkey has announced a senior appointment. Nermin Güney, who has been serving as a Board Member and a member of the Audit and Risk Committee at ING Turkey, has been appointed as the Assistant General Manager of Loans and a member of the Executive Committee, effective June 6, 2024. Prior to this appointment, Martijn Kamps, who held the position of Assistant General Manager of Loans, has been appointed as the Global Head of Credit Risk at ING, effective June 1, 2024.

Alper Gökgöz, General Manager of ING Turkey, expressed his satisfaction with these appointments, stating, “We are pleased to appoint Nermin Güney, an experienced professional who has achieved significant successes in various roles within our bank, to the crucial role of Assistant General Manager of Loans, which will contribute to our growth objectives in Turkey. We are also proud that Martijn Kamps, who played a key role in establishing a strong risk organization at ING Turkey, has been appointed to a critical global position.”

As part of its digital transformation journey, ING Turkey has become fully digital, and the recent senior appointment reflects this strategic direction. Nermin Güney, with 25 years of banking experience, will lead the implementation of data-driven decision-making processes and effective risk management within the scope of ING’s digitalization strategy. Güney’s extensive experience in credit and restructuring processes will be invaluable in this role. Prior to her new role, Martijn Kamps will be responsible for ING Group’s credit risk strategy and policies in his new position as Global Head of Credit Risk.

Nermin Güney completed her undergraduate studies in Economics at Ankara University Faculty of Political Sciences and her master’s degree in Banking and Finance at Istanbul Bilgi University. After gaining experience in different banking roles, she joined Oyak Bank in 2003 and continued her career in various leadership positions within the ING Turkey Loans team. Güney has led her team to numerous successes in credit transformation and risk analytics projects. She has also served on the boards of ING Factoring, ING Leasing, TBB Risk Center, and the Credit Guarantee Fund. From 2020 to 2023, Güney was part of the team that successfully completed ING France’s strategic transformation as the Executive Committee Member responsible for Risk.
